He started helping his father when he was around fourteen years old, mainly doing cleaning and charming the customers in the shop. In 1848, the Silbers family started searching for a partner for Joël to marry. One of their main goals was to secure benefits for both families. The couple spent several months together to get to know each other, although it was challenging and awkward for them.

Encouraged by their families, Joel and Esther got married on April 5, 1849. Their marriage initially felt forced, especially with Joel (like his father) working most of the time. However, as time passed, the couple gained more respect for each other and their relationship improved.

On January 4, 1853, Joel’s father, was found dead in his bed by his wife. He passed away quietly in his sleep. From that moment on, Joel became the owner of the butchery, and he continued to manage it in the same way his father and grandfather did. His hard work meant his family could live a comfortable life in the city. Joël maintains a strong posture, standing at around 180cm tall and weighing 112kg. He exhibits an impressive work ethic and spends the rest of his time dedicated to working for the Jewish community.
