Guide

Hello wanderer. I see you have made it over the border. I think I have not seen you before, or do I? My memory is not as good as it used to be. But that does not matter. You are here now and probably eager to explore. It is my task to help you navigate these beautiful pastures green. Or, gold, mostly. Haha, we had some tough weather, and the soil is also not what it used to be. Anyway, before you go, let me tell you a little bit about where you are, so you know what to expect when you venture further.

You have, my friend, entered the Region of Kilden just when you stepped over this border, which is marked by these two stones. They are probably over 2000 years old. It started as a collaboration between several local tribes in Europe. They decided to share their knowledge, resources and land for mutual benefit, as life was harsh and unpredictable. Although these tribes have been wiped from history and not much is known about them, the collaboration still stands. It is, however, not recognised by the governing powers. You see, the region spans three different countries or kingdoms, which were not there yet when the collaboration was formed. These are the kingdoms of the Netherlands, Prussia and Hanover, with Hanover only recently being annexed. Ahum, their borders come and go, but Kilden will stand firm, we believe.

Still, we have to respect the borders that have formed, so the governing powers are not wiping us out as they did thousands of years ago. This is why we created three areas, also called Amts, that follow the borders of the three kingdoms. Right now, you are in the Amt of AldáerAldáerAldáer is one of the three administrative units known as Amts (Litr: Láes), located in the Region of Kilden. The city of Alden, which is also the main capital, gives…. These Amt’s are divided into several districts, and these districts into neighbourhoods. The river KildKildKildThe Kild is a river that flows from north to south through the entirety of the Region. It is the most important river in the area and supplies water, power,…, from which our region derives its name, flows through the area and keeps it fertile. We respect the river like we respect our family and comrades.

So, yeah, that is pretty much it. In a nutshell, haha. That is our Kilden. I think I’ll let you explore a bit now. But before you go, there is something you must know first. These tribes I spoke about and that collaboration… Many think it was not only for, well, economic benefit. They protected something we do not know much about. It was probably found near the city of LutheriaLutheriaLutheriaThe City of Lutheria is one of the main cities in the Region of Kilden and is situated along the important trade route to Belthem. The city is geographically located…. You can find out more when you read about our Tale of Origin, if you are interested. Many think it is some kind of knowledge that has yielded them great power. So great, they needed to be wiped out, I guess. It is called “The Caedairian Knowledge” if I am not wrong. Where this name comes from and what it means, I do not know. Maybe you will be able to find out, aha. The fragments we found are written in a lost language. Litran, I believe. You may have to go to LutheriaLutheriaLutheriaThe City of Lutheria is one of the main cities in the Region of Kilden and is situated along the important trade route to Belthem. The city is geographically located… to find out more, hmm, I am not sure.

But, maybe it is better to get to know the area and people a bit. Here are some documents you can use. Have fun exploring, and do come back if you are lost…
