The fourth version aims to improve this by exploring the history of the area and its places. This means expanding the current articles. In addition to history, this version will focus on developing the cultural and political climate. Besides this, I will work on getting the maps and walk-through modules back online, which still needs some fine tuning. These modules will provide a clickable map and the possibility to walk through the area like a virtual tour.

It has been done. The fourth version of this project has come to an end. I have worked on writingWriting articles about History, Politics and Culture. Although most articles still live back-end, a lot of progress has been made and a foundation has been laid for the next stage of this project: Developing the main storyline. So, version 5 of this project is very unoriginally dubbed “Version 5. The Main Storyline”. In that version I am going to focus on developing the main plot(s) and create the assets that are important for the story.

There is going to be a lot of focus on the LutzLutzLutzThe Lutz family is primarily composed of farmers who reside in the Vöhren district of Kilden. Most members either currently live or have previously lived on the Lutz estate, a small farmhouse where they… family and the city of LutheriaLutheriaLutheriaThe City of Lutheria is one of the main cities in the Region of Kilden and is situated along the important trade route to Belthem. The city is geographically located…, for which the (exterior) 3D model will (hopefully) be made. But, before all this, in approximately 24 hours we will start with the new year. Hello everyone. As we are slowly heading to the end of the year and thus the end of the deadline of the fourth version of this project, I thought it was time for an update. In the last couple of weeks a lot has been done. For History & Politics I have updated the Feudal SystemThe Feudal SystemThe Feudal System, also known as Feudalism, is a societal structure based on landholding in exchange for services or labour. For example, a landlord owns land where individuals can reside… a little bit, by making it possible to add more information to Titles and Classes, Charters and how they affect people and places. For example, you can now see which requirements are needed to earn a certain title, and what rights and duties are connected to the title. I currently only worked on the two lower ranks “CotterCotterA cotter was an individual who lived on a cottage plot, typically possessing just enough land for subsistence farming. They might own a small amount of land, but always less…” and “FreemenFreemenA Freeman was an individual who was legally free and could own or lease land. They were not bound to the land or to a higher noble. However, they did…”, and will update the other ranks soon.

Also, I have made a start with the Community system which allows characters to place updates on the notice boardNotice board, add them into their diaries and share it on their character sheet. It is still a rough concept, but the community feature is what is going to make this project feel more alive.

Part of the community system are the Newspapers, which contain articles about the things that happen in the world. These articles can now be viewed inside of a Newspaper and will also pop-up on the Notice BoardNotice board.

Besides that, I have made a very conceptual start of the Production & Asset system, which makes it possible to assign products a place produces by means of assets a place has. For example: A field of FlaxFlaxFlaxFlax is a versatile cultivated plant valued for both its strong fibers and its nutritious seeds and an important farm crop. Lastly, I have worked on updating the 3D model of Lutz farmLutz farmLutz farmLutz Farm is a small farm located in the Denron neighbourhood of the Vöhren district. The Lutz family has been the proud owners and operators of the farm for centuries. They grow a variety of crops,…. It will be the first place to have a final 3D model with renders, which are going to be used in the main storyline. The renders are not finished yet, but will appear next year. Sooo, those were all the updates. For the last couple of days I will continue to finetune things and then start planning for the fifth version of this project, which will focus on developing the main plot for the story and the assets associated with it, as well as continious upgrades to the website. Hello everyone. The last couple of weeks I have worked on Version 4 of the project, focusing on history, cultures and politics. I am happy with the progress so far, but I feel it is too inconsistent to be published already. Also, I feel that I need more progress on other parts of the project before I can continue and publish more about the history. Because this project all revolves around a main storyline, it is now time to make a first blueprint of it. Everything else will fall into place when this is set up. So, I have decided to work on the main storyline in the next version (Version 5) of the project. I will finish the fourth version in December, as planned, however not a lot will be published yet. But, rest assured, it will probably be published in the next couple of months.

Besides working on the history, cultures and politics, I have also worked on the website, making it a little bit easier to manage and organise it a little bit better. Also, this is a lot of back-end progress you will not see in the front-end, but still very necessary.

So, a lot has been done but not a lot can be seen (yet) :P. In the last weeks of this year I am going to finish some articles, polish the website a little bit more and make a start creating the main storyline, from which more articles will follow. Stay tuned 🙂

Hello everyone. So I have started working on the fourth version of this project, focusing on History, Culture and Politics. The city is geographically located…, which will play a crucial role in the story and therefore must be fully developed before writingWriting the story itself. I have started with a concept of LutheriaLutheriaLutheriaThe City of Lutheria is one of the main cities in the Region of Kilden and is situated along the important trade route to Belthem. The city is geographically located… and created 3D models and renders for it. Now, I am going to work on the final model, taking inspiration from the concept and changing the things I did not like. This model will be entirely made in Unreal Engine, instead of using a combination of SketchUp (for modelling) and Unreal Engine (for rendering). I think (or I hope) I have acquired enough knowledge to make the full switch to UE. This means that after more than 15 years of working with SketchUp, I am cancelling my subscription renewal (which I am happy about, because it got very expensive the last couple of years).

The Abbey was built around a sacred site where St. Mary's… (still unfinished), the Baptisterium and St. Liudger’s Chapel in the foreground. Also, I am working on a canal system for the city, which was not included in the concept version. At the moment, I am working on the streets and the first buildings in the city. In time, some of these buildings will also get an interior, but for now, I am focusing on the exterior first. I will keep you updated!
